Welcome From The Headteacher

Welcome to Newfield School

It is a privilege to serve as headteacher of a school that is committed to providing the very best education for every pupil.

We believe that irrespective of starting points, pupils can thrive at school and secure the very best outcomes.

Our commitment to quality first teaching and high standards is helping to transform the school into a place of academic success for pupils.

Newfield School is a place of high expectations, where pupils are encouraged to work hard, behave well and take pride in their achievements.

We believe that education has the power to transform lives, and we are determined that every young person leaves us confident, ambitious, and prepared for the next stage of their journey.

We offer a broad curriculum, taught by committed and passionate staff who focus on the importance of knowledge in their subject areas. Alongside academic success, we place great importance on personal ambition and high expectations, supporting pupils to aim high for their post-16 applications. Our pupils are supported by staff to contribute well in class, at school and in the wider community.

As part of Mercia Learning Trust, we share a common mission and set of values. We are committed to curiosity, consideration, and commitment, and we exist to empower everyone in our communities, especially the most disadvantaged, to succeed. These principles underpin everything we do and shape the culture of our school. We are working hard to ensure our outcomes for the disadvantaged improve significantly.

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Newfield School. I hope this website gives you a sense of the ambition we have for our pupils and the approach that we take. Please do get in touch or visit us to see our community in action.

Our ethos

At Newfield School, we are committed to raising the standards and expectations of all our pupils.

In class, we have developed our Newfield Principles that are based upon educational evidence and securing pupil outcomes. We lead from the front, using booklets to offer pupils a rich understanding of their subjects and we are developing our approaches to questioning, extended reading and writing and a culture of knowledge.

The school is calm and purposeful, with line-ups and structured approaches to social times helping to secure an orderly school with consistent approaches to behaviour. Our priorities are for a calm, safe school and disruption free learning.

Our values

The school is led by a desire to make decisions that are in the best interests of all pupils, but especially the most disadvantaged. We aim to ensure pupils are learning in an environment in which they can thrive.

Our values are exhibited in lessons and around school:

Curiosity

A developing interest in subjects, a love of learning and a reading centred curriculum.

Consideration

Positive relationships, positive contributions and a sense of community permeate the school.

Commitment

Pupils and staff are committed to high standards and expectations and the work required to do well.
