Overview

Storytelling is innately human and Drama is a uniquely powerful way of developing a deep empathy and understanding of human experience and the world around us. At Newfield School the Drama Department ignites our pupils’ passion for the Performing Arts and cultivates creativity, critical thinking and cultural capital. Drama inspires a love of learning through the freedom to express oneself and explore creatively, whilst developing the self-discipline, responsibility and resilience to rehearse and refine work to the highest standard.

Pupils learn an extensive practical skillset alongside a deep and broad theoretical understanding of Drama, Theatre and Production. The wealth of transferrable skills learnt, including oracy, verbal and physical communication, empathy, creativity, problem solving and literacy, supports pupils to develop their confidence and ability to express ideas and opinions, which undoubtedly empowers pupils to grow into successful young adults.
