Overview
Our PE department encourages all pupils to be curious about the sports they are taught, learning skills and techniques, rules and regulations of each sport and applying them in lessons.
Healthy competition is promoted through performance and game play where pupils are also encouraged to; be considerate to each other, abide by the rules of each sport, demonstrate fair play, respect and demonstrate sportsmanship as well as recognise where support can be given to others.
Pupils are encouraged to be ambitious by attending extra-curricular clubs and being part of school teams. Pupils show dedication to sport by attending regular after school clubs alongside competing in fixtures and competitions against other schools.
Physical Education is ‘education through the physical’. Our goal in every lesson is for pupils to be physically active for sustained periods of time.
Pupils will follow a curriculum that develops physical competence and knowledge of movement and their ability to use these to perform in a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle.
Our curriculum aims to develop pupils’ confidence and generic skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking and aesthetic appreciation. These together, with positive values and attitudes, high expectations, and routines for learning provide solid foundations for pupils’ lifelong learning.
