The study of geography is essential. As our world becomes increasingly globalised, it is crucial that pupils acquire knowledge about different countries and cultures, whilst analysing and evaluating information, not just taking things on face value. Simultaneously appreciating the interdependence of many elements on planet Earth and how the human population can influence the future.

Geography offers a distinct analysis of the challenges facing the world right now, many of which stem out of ignorance. As such, we are dedicated to providing our pupils with knowledge, passion and empathy, thereby empowering them to be change makers in their local community, people who wish to make a sizeable difference to the world we live in, this is at the heart of geography at Newfield School.

We are committed to developing Newfield geographers who are responsible, respectful and informed global citizens, who can have a meaningful impact in their world and on the people in it, in a sustainable way.

During Key Stage 3, we embed an understanding of essential foundational geographical knowledge focussing specifically on the study of physical and human features from across the world and how they interact with each other.

At Key Stage 4, we teach pupils the AQA syllabus which builds on and develops knowledge from Key Stage 3 and includes fieldwork opportunities.
