Overview
We aim to be mathematicians who see the elegance in a complete solution rather than just finding the answer. Pupils will be regularly applying their knowledge to solve problems throughout the curriculum. We make sure that robust mental models are secured, embedded and then implemented to further elements of the curriculum. Key knowledge is retrieved regularly to ensure quick recall as they are the foundations for further learning.
Pupils will study all strands of mathematics at Newfield, (number, algebra, geometry, ratio and proportion, and probability and statistics). The strands are carefully interleaved across the years, so pupils see the entirety of maths as well as how they connect to each other.
