The Newfield commitment
At Newfield School, all pupils receive personalised careers guidance to help them make informed choices at every key transition point. Every pupil benefits from a one-to-one, independent careers interview in both Year 10 and Year 11, ensuring they are well prepared for post-16 education and future pathways.
Our careers provision is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need beyond Newfield School. Pupils engage with employers and education providers from Year 7 through to Year 11, culminating in a Year 11 careers roadshow. This event enables pupils to explore a wide range of options and discuss aspirations with colleges, universities, employers and apprenticeship providers.
Careers education is delivered through personal development lessons, assemblies and careers workshops across the academic year. Our programme is structured around the Gatsby Benchmarks, which underpin our Careers Policy. The impact of our provision is monitored through the Careers and Enterprise Company Compass Plus self-assessment tool, completed termly by the Careers Leader, alongside regular feedback from pupils, parents and partners.
Newfield School also works closely with the Careers and Enterprise Company Enterprise Adviser Network to strengthen links with local employers and enhance pupils’ real-world understanding of careers.
In Year 9, pupils and parents take part in a one-to-one options interview with senior staff. These discussions focus on future aspirations and help guide pupils towards the most appropriate pathways for Years 10 and 11 and beyond.

How you can support
Parents
If you have contacts or connections that could support our careers programme, including guest speakers, please get in touch. We also encourage parents and carers to explore career options with their child and to discuss aspirations during senior leader meetings so that appropriate guidance and support can be put in place.
Employers
We welcome opportunities to work with employers who are keen to support our pupils. If you would like to host an event or speak to pupils about your career or industry, please contact us.
Post-16, higher and further education providers
We are happy to host visiting speakers and events and are keen to engage with post-16 providers as pupils enter Years 10 and 11. This helps ensure pupils are fully informed about the local and national post 16 offer.
Volunteers
If you would like to offer your time or expertise to support our pupils, please contact us. We are keen to broaden our enrichment opportunities and develop partnerships that align with the aims and ambitions of Newfield School.
